This site is meant to be used as a resource that all of us as members of the Beaver Local Learning Community can use as a professional development tool. Through the use of video, suggested resources, comments, and reflection this site will allow the district to have a common gathering space with common ideas as we move ahead through the journey of becoming a 21st Century school and moving into our new school in the not to distant future...
August 9th 2013. Members of Beaver Local's Project Commit discussing Project Based Learning during volunteer summer Professional Development.
" In the IPADS we like folder" are some really good apps for all grade levels that would help the teachers and students! It is worth investingating.

Please share any APPS you are using which are good so we can add them to the folder. It is even more helpful if you can share what makes the APP useful or how it is being used in your classroom.
Mr. Hall and Mrs. Blanchard used puppet pals with the students to create stories on the IPAD. The app is very user friendly. The kids absolutely loved the project and can't wait to do more. It was exciting to seem them actively engaged in reading and wanting to do more.
Please share your thoughts and also items which you need more info about as you go through the site. Interested to hear what apps the newer members of the pilot come across and how they are using.
I used Voki to create a 'welcome message' avatar using the free site: Voki.com. As of now, Voki is Flashed-based and will not work on iOs devices (iPhone/iPad).
I added some information about 3rd grade gurantee, Plain Local schools video series(Common Core, 3rd grade gurantee, HB 555) and also keynote speaker from ODE about 21st century education/achievement
Been talking to teachers across the state as we prepare for the DI Tournament in April. Some with new buildings have been working with the "learning pods." The difference between whether they like them or not appears to be directly proportional to the amount of professional development received. Another interesting twist--STEM is turning into STEAMS, with the addition of "Arts" and "Service." About time!
Lots of iPad resources, information about flipped learning, websites for 21st century learning in the classroom, and general PD materials have been added
Still want increased feedback so we can get information that fits our needs on the site, share with a colleague if you like the site have some staff using frequently and others who have never been on the site.
Dayna, Thank you for the honest and insightful feedback on this lesson. I believe that one of our challenges with moving toward PBL and 21st Century learning is changing the culture of learning. You academic students demonstrated perfectly why we all need to embrace changing the way we teach. It appears to me that your general students would be more successful at a job site than the academic. The great news is that the middle school teachers are also embracing change to their instructional practices and hopefully, when they become students in your classroom, they will be better prepared for your teaching style.

As for apps for the 2nd graders, my students recently used Popplet and storybook and comiclife. All were good.
